Photo Booth Software, Compared Honestly
Every roundup you have read this week was written by someone selling you something. So was this one. The difference is that every number here is dated, taken from the other company's own published page, and we tell you plainly where they beat us.
Prices and features checked September 4, 2026The short answer, as of September 4, 2026
- LumaBooth is built for booth businesses and still easy enough for a first event. Surveys, lead capture, analytics, branded galleries, a full layout designer, an online dashboard, tethered Canon, Nikon and Sony, cashless payments, and volume pricing above 10 booths. Every app feature is on every plan, including the cheapest.
- LumaBooth has the largest operator community in photo booth software, by a wide margin. 81,400 members across our two official Facebook groups, against 17,600 for the next largest and under 8,000 for the rest. Shipping since 2012, with 14 years of public release history.
- LumaBooth costs $18 per month billed annually and includes two devices, any mix of iPad, iPhone, Mac and Android. Windows is a separate subscription at $17. Every app feature is on every plan, with no capture, printing, AI or camera feature behind an upgrade.
- Entry plans elsewhere run $36.66 to $55.20 per month, and most cover one device: Touchpix PhotoPass, Simple Booth Core, Fiesta Plus and Snappic Starter. Reaching what LumaBooth includes on its base plan costs $1,408 to $2,861 a year on those platforms, against $216 for two devices.
- LumaBooth runs on all five platforms, Windows, Mac, iPad, iPhone and Android. No other app on this page does. That matters for Sony video in particular: Sony does not allow tethered video capture on iOS, so no iPad app records it, and LumaBooth for Windows is the only app here that can.
- LumaBooth prints straight to 16 dye-sub printers over one USB cable, from an Apple silicon iPad or a Mac, at sizes up to 8x12 plus panoramas. Touchpix and Snappic added direct USB printing in 2026 too, covering 12 and 9 printers, both iPad only, both capped below our sizes, and neither supports HiTi. Fiesta manages one model. Only Simple Booth still needs a WCM or print server.
- AI portraits are $0.10 each, flat. Simple Booth charges 1 to 3 credits at $0.10 each, and Touchpix charges $0.098 to $0.12 per credit with some styles costing more than one.
- Where they win: Touchpix has offline AI face replacement and a higher App Store rating. Snappic has webhooks, white-label emails and a grey-label app. Simple Booth has enterprise compliance tooling. Fiesta has proposals and hardware discounts. Darkroom Booth has bill acceptors.
Four Things Decide It. The Rest Is Noise.
Feature lists all look the same by the third tab. These are the differences you feel on a Saturday night.
What one plan actually covers once you count devices. Which platforms you can run when a client asks for something your iPad cannot do. How quickly you can set the thing up at a venue. And who picks up when it goes wrong at 11pm. Here is where each of those lands.
Built for Businesses, Easy Enough for Anyone
81,400 operators run this for a living. It is also simple enough to set up for one birthday party, and we do not think those two things are in tension.
Because LumaBooth is easy to pick up and costs a fraction of what the apps on this page charge, it sometimes gets described as a consumer tool that lacks the marketing, customization and analytics a business needs. That is a fair thing to check before you spend money, so here are those three against what actually ships.
| The question | What is actually included, on every plan |
|---|---|
| No marketing tools | Surveys and lead capture on every plan, not a Pro-tier upgrade. Custom branding on prints, screens and sharing. Galleries carry no LumaBooth branding on any plan, and fotoShare Business at $39.99 a month puts your own logo and subdomain on them. Unlimited US and Canada texting with international included. And cashless payments on Windows, so guests can pay at the booth, 5% per charge, in 41 countries, which is a revenue tool none of the apps on this page match. |
| No customization | 820+ designs, each a full matched set of ten print layouts, a welcome screen and overlays, plus a complete layout designer to build your own from scratch. Welcome screens targeted per device type. Custom AI prompts built from a Subject, Scene and Style with your own logo, with no tier gate. |
| No analytics | Survey and lead data you can export on every plan, and an online dashboard that configures every booth on your account from a browser. Per-event gallery analytics, page views, unique users and social referrers, come with fotoShare Business at $39.99 a month. |
The simplest answer is who actually uses it
81,400 operators are in our two official communities. We publish volume pricing above 10 booths, which is not a thing you build for people running one birthday party. We have shipped continuously since 2012, with 33 releases between March and August 2026 alone. And we support tethered Canon, Nikon and Sony on Windows with direct printing to 16 dye-sub models, which is a professional rig, not a phone app.
Where the claim does land is that we are cheap, and we are not going to argue with that. $18 a month with two devices is a fraction of what the apps on this page charge. That is a pricing decision, not a statement about who the software is for. A business paying $216 a year instead of $2,861 is not getting an amateur tool, it is keeping $2,645.
The Real Price of Getting Started
The advertised entry price, and what you actually get for it. It is the second half that costs people money.
| App and entry plan | Per month, on a yearly commitment | What that entry plan covers | What it does not |
|---|---|---|---|
| LumaBooth | $18 | 2 devices, any mix of iPad, iPhone, Mac and Android. Photo, video, GIF, boomerang, 360, slow motion, green screen, surveys, AI background replacement | Nothing in the app. Every capture, printing, AI and sharing feature is on every plan |
| LumaBooth for Windows (dslrBooth) | $17 | 2 computers, plus tethered Canon, Nikon, Sony and GoPro | Nothing in the app. Every capture, printing, AI and sharing feature is on every plan |
| Touchpix, PhotoPass | $36.66 | Unlimited devices, 2 simultaneous events. Photos, GIFs and Photo AI | No video, slow motion or boomerang, so no 360 spins. No surveys, which start at Pro. Video starts at MultiPass, $879.99 a year |
| Simple Booth, Core | $40.83 | 1 license, unlimited photos and videos, basic AI effects | No custom branding, AI Effect Studio or analytics until Plus. No data capture, API or international SMS until Pro, at $149 a month |
| Fiesta, Plus | $49.17 | 1 license, surveys, analytics, proposals, virtual booth, AI background removal | Sharing stations consume a license. Unlimited sharing stations start at Pro, $119 a month |
| Snappic, Starter | $55.20 | 1 license, photo sessions and sharing | No DSLR integration. No AirPrint or print server, so no printing at all. No 360, roaming, green screen, AI-FX, animated overlays, custom props, surveys or data capture. Those start at Business, $189 a month. Green screen $19 per event, microsites $19, virtual booth $25 |

What the advertised price does not include
This is the part that costs people money. Every exclusion below is taken from that company’s own published pricing page on September 4, 2026. None of it is hidden, exactly, but none of it is on the price tag either.
Snappic, Starter
$69 per month, 1 license
- No printing at all. No AirPrint and no wireless print server
- No DSLR integration
- No 360 booth, roaming mode or glam robot arm
- No green screen or AI background removal. Green screen is $19 per event
- No AI-FX, VideoFX or animated overlays
- No custom surveys or data capture
- Microsites $19 per event, virtual booth $25 per event
Touchpix, PhotoPass
$439.90 per year, billed yearly
- No video, slow motion or boomerang. So no 360 spin videos
- No surveys, which start two tiers up at Pro
- No virtual booth or paywall
- Only 2 simultaneous active events
Simple Booth, Core
$49 per month or $490 per year, 1 license
- No custom branding, AI Effect Studio or analytics until Plus
- No international texting until Pro, at $149 per month
- No data capture forms, API or phone support until Pro
- No age gating, moderation or PII purge until Select
- A second device adds $36 per month
Fiesta, Plus
$59 per month or $590 per year, 1 license
- Sharing stations consume a license. Unlimited sharing stations start at Pro, $119 per month
- AI Studio, Design Studio 2.0 and the website builder are announced for 2026, not shipped
- LED ring control works on their own booths only
- One license runs one booth at a time. A second simultaneous booth is another full-price license, $119 per month on Pro
LumaBooth
$18 per month billed annually, 2 devices
- Printing, DSLR, 360, green screen and AI background replacement, included
- Video, slow motion, boomerang and GIF, included
- Surveys, lead capture and analytics, included
- Unlimited US and Canada texting, and international texting, included
- Every app feature is on every plan, because there is only one plan. Gallery branding and analytics sit in fotoShare Business, priced separately
Cheap Until You Need It to Work
An entry plan that cannot print, cannot drive a DSLR and cannot do a green screen is not really a photo booth plan. It is a way to advertise a lower number. We are not saying anyone is hiding this. We are saying the advertised price and the working price are different numbers everywhere on this page except one.
How many booths do you run at once?
This is the question that decides your bill, and it is the one no pricing page asks you. Every app below is priced on the lowest tier that does what LumaBooth does on its base plan, not on its advertised entry price. Four of them add a flat charge for every extra booth. On Fiesta it is the same as the first. On Simple Booth and Snappic it is a cheaper add-on license. On LumaBooth there is nothing to pay until the third booth, because two are already included. Touchpix prices by how many events run at once, so its line steps up in tiers instead. Drag the slider to your real number.
the only plan there is
Pro
MultiPass Pro
Pro
Business
Cost per year at annual billing, on the lowest tier of each app that actually matches what LumaBooth includes: video, 360, green screen, surveys and analytics. That means Snappic Business, Simple Booth Pro, Fiesta Pro and Touchpix MultiPass Pro, because the entry plans below those cannot do the job. Snappic Starter, for one, cannot print at all. LumaBooth: your first subscription covers two devices, and each device after that is an additional subscription at the same rate. Touchpix advertises unlimited devices but limits simultaneous active events, and surveys do not appear until MultiPass Pro, so its line sits at Pro up to 8 concurrent booths and steps to Enterprise beyond that. Its cheaper PhotoPass and MultiPass tiers are not comparable: PhotoPass has no video at all. Fiesta sells one license per booth running at the same time and every additional license costs the same as the first, so its line is the Pro price multiplied by your booth count. Custom pricing only starts at 10 or more simultaneous events. Snappic converted from monthly list less their advertised 20% annual saving.
Now the same comparison, like for like
The table above is the advertised entry price. It flatters everyone but us, because our entry plan is our only plan. So here is the other direction: what each app costs to reach what LumaBooth gives you on the base plan. That means video, 360, slow motion, boomerang, green screen and AI background replacement, surveys, analytics, international texting and a second device.
| App | Plan needed to match LumaBooth | Per year | Versus LumaBooth |
|---|---|---|---|
| LumaBooth | The only plan there is, 2 devices | $216 | Baseline |
| Touchpix | MultiPass Pro. MultiPass adds video and slow motion, but surveys do not appear until Pro | $1,407.99 | 6.5x |
| Fiesta | Pro, two licenses, since one license runs one booth at a time and each extra license costs the same as the first | $2,380 | 11x |
| Simple Booth | Pro, for international SMS and data capture, plus one add-on license for the second device | $2,600 | 12x |
| Snappic | Business, for AI-FX, green screen, VideoFX, surveys and analytics, plus one add-on license for the second device | $2,861 | 13.2x |
Simple Booth from published annual pricing: Pro $1,490 plus a $1,110 annual add-on license. Fiesta Pro annual $1,190 per license, two licenses to match our two devices. Touchpix MultiPass Pro annual $1,407.99, the first tier with surveys. Snappic publishes monthly, so Business $189 plus a $109 add-on license, times twelve, less their advertised 20% annual saving.
This is the number that actually matters
Nobody runs a booth business on an entry plan. The moment a client asks for video, a green screen or a guest list you can export, the advertised price stops being the price. On LumaBooth there is no moment like that, because there is no higher tier to move to.
Three notes so this table stays honest. Touchpix prices on simultaneous active events rather than devices, and advertises unlimited devices, so if you run several booths on the same Saturday its pricing works much harder than this row suggests. Its entry plan is photos only, though, so selling video means MultiPass at $879.99 a year. And Darkroom Booth is not on this chart because it is not billed monthly: $295 up front plus about $95 a year for maintenance, which works out cheaper over three years on a single Windows booth.
The other half of the price question is what the entry plan includes. On LumaBooth every feature is on every plan. Elsewhere, AI effects, green screen, surveys, analytics, white label and international texting are commonly gated behind a higher tier, so the advertised entry price is often not the price you end up paying.
Three Years, Hardware Included
Software is only part of the bill. Some of these apps decide what else you have to buy.
One booth, printing at most events, running the plan that actually does the job. Software for three years, plus whatever hardware the print path forces on you.
| App | Software, 3 years | Print hardware it requires | Three-year total |
|---|---|---|---|
| LumaBooth | $648 | A USB cable and a powered hub | About $650 |
| Fiesta, Pro | $3,570 | A USB-Ethernet adapter, on a DNP DS620A | About $3,590 |
| Touchpix, MultiPass Pro | $4,224 | AirPrint dongle or a print server | $4,400 and up |
| Simple Booth, Pro | $4,470 | A WCM, an AirCast Pro or a wired Mac mini. A WCM Plus is about $200 | $4,670 and up |
| Snappic, Business | $5,443 | A computer to run the Snappic Print Server, wired to the iPad | $5,440 plus a laptop |
Scroll the table sideways for the full row.
Software figures are three years at each vendor’s annual rate, on the same feature-matched tiers used everywhere else on this page: Fiesta Pro, Touchpix MultiPass Pro, Simple Booth Pro and Snappic Business. Those are the lowest tiers that match what LumaBooth includes on its base plan. This table is one booth, so it is one license each; Fiesta and Simple Booth both charge again per simultaneous booth. Snappic Starter is excluded because it cannot print at all. Hardware prices are indicative and depend on what you already own.
The laptop is the part nobody counts
A print server is not just a subscription line, it is a machine that needs power, a case, a surface at the venue and someone to reboot it when the Wi-Fi drops mid-event. LumaBooth’s answer to all of that is a cable. Darkroom Booth sits outside this table because it is Windows software on a computer you already own: about $485 over three years, which on a single Windows booth is the cheapest option here.
Five Platforms, One App
Windows, Mac, iPad, iPhone and Android. LumaBooth is the only app here that runs on all five.
| App | Windows | Mac | iPad | iPhone | Android | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| LumaBooth | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | 5 of 5 |
| Touchpix | A Windows build is published, but their DSLR and platform pages list iOS, iPadOS, macOS and Android only | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | 4 of 5 |
| Snappic | No | Yes | Yes | Yes | No | 3 of 5 |
| Fiesta | No | Web dashboard only | Yes | Yes | No | 2 of 5 |
| Darkroom Booth | Yes | No | Separate app, billed separately | No | No | 2 of 5 |
| Simple Booth | No | Mac mini as a print server only | Yes | No | No | 1 of 5 |
Scroll the table sideways to see every platform.
Android is the one people miss
One LumaBooth subscription covers iPad, iPhone, Mac and Android together, and your two included devices can be any mix of them. An iPad in the booth and an Android tablet running the sharing station is one plan, not two. Only Touchpix also spans iOS and Android on a single subscription, and it does not run on Windows at all. LumaBooth for Windows is billed separately.
820 Designs. Every Piece Matches.
A finished look for the whole event, included free. Not just a folder of print layouts.
Most template libraries hand you a print layout and leave the rest to you. Pick a LumaBooth design and you get the whole set: ten print layouts covering 2x6 strips at two or four photos, 4x6 portrait and landscape at one or three photos, and square. A custom welcome screen drawn to match. Portrait and square overlays so your GIFs and videos look like they came from the same designer as the print.
That is the part operators feel on the night. The guest sees one look from the moment they walk up to the screen to the strip in their hand to the clip that lands on their phone, and you did not open a design app once.
The Room You Can Ask at 2am
Members in each app's official Facebook user community, counted the same way, on the same day.
Four and a half times the next largest. These are public member counts from each group's own page, checked on September 4, 2026, so you can go and count them yourself.
Worth saying plainly: these are community group memberships, not user counts. Every app here has more customers than group members, ours included. We use this number because it is the only one on the subject that both sides publish and anyone can verify in a browser.
It matters more than it looks. A booth business is mostly a solo operation, and the fastest answer to "why is my DS620 throwing this error" has never been a support ticket. It is 81,400 people who have already had that exact night. Post a photo of the error at 2am and someone in Manila answers before someone in Chicago is awake.
The One Thing a Feature Table Cannot Show You
Whether you can actually set it up, at a venue, an hour before doors, without the manual.
Every app on this page can list the same features. What separates them is how long it takes to get a booth running and how much of that you can do without help. LumaBooth was rebuilt touch-first for version 8, and the screen and layout editors work the same way on Windows, on an iPad and in the browser dashboard, so what you learn once you know everywhere. Pick one of the 820 designs and the welcome screen, the print layout and the GIF overlay already match, with no design app involved.

Fourteen Years, Every Format
Mirror booths, glam, 360, roaming. Every format that changed this industry, we shipped as it happened, not after.
Longevity on its own proves nothing. Plenty of photo booth software is old and standing still. What the dates above show is something different: when mirror booths took off, when glam filters did, when 360 arrived, when roaming became a service operators could sell, we had already shipped it. That is the difference between software that is old and software that has been kept.

One Cable, 16 Printers
Four brands, from an iPad or a Mac, at every size the ribbon supports. Here is how that compares now that others print over USB too.
| Direct USB printing | LumaBooth | Touchpix | Snappic | Fiesta |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Prints with no computer in the path | Yes | Yes | Yes | No, a computer inside the Guac booth |
| Printers supported | 16 | 12 | 9 | 1, the DS620A |
| HiTi | P525L, P520L | None | None | None |
| Largest print size | 8x12 | 6x8 | 8x12 | Set in CUPS on the booth |
| Panoramas | 6x14, 6x20, 8x22, 8x32 | No | No | No |
| Works from a Mac | Yes | No | No | No |
Scroll the table sideways for every column.
HiTi is where it stays clear cut. Three competitors print direct over USB now and not one of them drives a HiTi, so a P525L or a P520L rules out every option here except ours.
On sizes, Snappic matches us on the standard range and publishes it: up to 8x12 on an 8-inch printer, 6x9 on a 6-inch, plus 2-up 4x6. Touchpix is the one that caps low, at 6x8. Where we are still alone is panoramas: 6x14 and 6x20 off a 6-inch ribbon, 8x22 and 8x32 off an 8-inch, each printed in one continuous pass. Nobody else on this page offers them.
Needs an Apple silicon iPad (M1 or later) on iPadOS 16 or later, or a Mac on macOS 12 or later.
How This Page Was Put Together
You are reading a comparison written by one of the companies in it. Here is exactly how much you should trust it, and why.
Our five rules
- Every competitor figure comes from that company’s own published page, never from a third-party roundup. Prices, plan names, camera lists and feature gates were all read off their pricing pages and support documentation on September 4, 2026.
- Every number is dated. If a page carries a figure with no date on it, you have no idea whether it was true this year. Ours says September 4, 2026 at the top and the bottom.
- We name where competitors beat us, in a section of its own, including the ones that sting.
- We do not link to competitor sites, and we do not quote their marketing language back at you. Where we describe their product, we describe the capability in plain terms.
- We correct errors publicly. Three claims in the first draft of these pages were wrong in our favour and were removed before publishing, after checking primary sources rather than trusting a summary.
If you find something out of date or wrong, tell us at support at lumasoft dot co and we will fix it and change the date at the top. That offer is open to the companies on this page too.

You have read three vendor roundups today and every one of them won every category. Here is ours losing.
| App | What it does better than LumaBooth |
|---|---|
| Snappic | VideoFX for brand activations, plus webhooks and a grey-label app for agencies reselling under their own brand, which we have no answer to. Their white-label email also sends from your own domain, where ours sends from fotoshare.co with your From and Reply-To on it. |
| Simple Booth | Enterprise compliance tooling that we simply do not have: age gating, content moderation, PII purging, plus an API and weekly plans for permanent installs. They also document video support for higher-end Sony bodies on iPad, which our Apple app blocks on every Sony. Worth testing on your own camera, since Snappic states the platform does not allow it at all. |
| Fiesta | Proposals, a virtual booth and a website builder bundled in, LED control tuned to their own booths, and $250 to $1,000 off their hardware on annual plans. |
| Touchpix | Offline AI face replacement, which we have no equivalent for. A broader camera brand list, adding Fujifilm, Olympus and Panasonic. Wireless GoPro capture from an iPad or Android tablet rather than a Windows machine. Two Citizen printers we do not drive, the CW-01 and CW-02. A mosaic wall. A higher App Store rating, 4.8 against our 4.6. And once you are running eight booths at once, their tiered pricing costs less than ours. |
| Darkroom Booth | A lower annual cost on a single Windows booth once the up-front license is paid, and proper bill acceptor support for coin-op and unattended kiosk installs. |
If one of those is the thing your business runs on, buy that one. We would rather you read this page once and choose correctly than sign up, discover the gap at your third event, and churn.
The Group Chat Alone Is 81,400 Operators
Software is the part you can compare on a table. This is the part you feel at 11pm when the printer stops.
To be clear about that number: 81,400 is how many operators are in our two official Facebook groups. It is not our user count, which is a good deal larger. It is simply the part you can go and count for yourself, which is why we use it.
Ask a question in the Windows group at 2am and someone in Manila answers before someone in Chicago wakes up. That is not a support policy, it is tens of thousands of operators who have already run the event you are about to run. Our own team is US-based with people spread across the time zones, so a Saturday night in any country is a working day for somebody.
The long history matters for the same reason. We shipped the first version in 2012 and we have not stopped. Every release is written up in plain language at dslrbooth.com/releases, so you can read exactly what changed before you install it, going back years. Pick any photo booth app and read its release history next to ours. That comparison tells you more about the next five years than any feature table.
